Our Taekwon-Do club is part of the UKTA (United Kingdom Tae Kwon-Do Association) which is part of the ITF (International Tae Kwon-Do Association). Tae Kwon-Do is a martial art from Korea and translates as 'Foot hand Art'. During classes children learn different self-defence moves in a controlled environment applying the five tenets of courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control and indomitable spirit in all activities that they do during the class.
Children also learn the Taekwon-Do oath:
- I shall observe the tenets of Taekwon-Do.
- I shall respect the instructor and seniors.
- I shall never misuse Taekwon-Do.
- I shall be a champion of freedom and justice.
- I shall build a more peaceful world.
Our football club is run by Charlton Athletic community trust coaches. During the sessions children learn and practice different skills that will improve their game.
The Year 5/6 football team also train after school in preparation for inter-school football matches and tournaments.
