Young London Leading
On Friday 4th October Year 6 took part in Young London Leading. This workshop taught the children valuable leadership skills and helped them to think about how they could address important social action issues in our community.
Following a motivational assembly led by Mr Beezy, pupils learnt about and practiced a range of employability skills. The workshop encouraged all pupils to showcase their talents using their creativity and presentation skills.
Then, in teams of 10, pupils were guided to identify and think about how to solve problems in their local community before pitching their ideas in front of Mr Dunbabin, Miss Sullivan and Miss Greaves at the end of the day.
The ‘Homeless in Care’ team were selected to go through to the next stage of the programme, where they submitted a video of their project going head to head with 9 other schools and from this they became one of the 5 finalist schools who will now put together a presentation and an action plan to bid to receive up to £500 to turn their social action project idea into reality!
